Adventure Myanmar

This tour is for the adventurers who want more than the easy-going tourist views of Myanmar. This tour lets you trek through mountains and forests to see all of the off-roads beauty this magnificent countryside has to offer. Along your guided journey you'll meet with locals and see them create traditional artisan crafts, all while taking in the true culture of Myanmar.

Day 1: Arrive in Yangon

 

On arrival in Yangon your transport will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. You can spend the afternoon exploring the bustling streets of Yangon and viewing the old colonial buildings, followed by a visit to the old harbour district and a glimpse into the lives of local merchants. In the evening enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants before enjoying the view of Shwedagon Pagoda at night.

Day 2: Inle Lake (Heho) – Pindaya - Kalaw

 

After breakfast, you’ll fly to Heho to visit to Pindaya Cave, believed to contain more than 8000 images, some carved in wood, stone, marble, and bronze, and some thickly gilded. You’ll then visit the Shan Umbrella Making Home Industry, which is a traditional artisan craft and make excellent souvenirs. Finally you'll head to Kalaw for an amazing mountain views. Overnight at Kalaw.

Day 3: Half Day Trekking to Painnebin (Palaung Village), Nyaung Shwe

 

After an early breakfast we'll travel to the start of a walking trail, then climb down from Small Mountain for 30 minutes until reaching the pine forests, where you can see cheroot leaves and orange trees in the gardens of Danu people.

 

In the afternoon, you’ll trek to Painebin village where the Palaung tribe live. Here you can choose from several options, including walking in the nearby mountains or visiting a traditional house. After leaving the village we continue to Nyaung Shwe jetty, the gateway to Inle lake. You'll stay overnight on the lake.

Day 4: Inle Lake - Full Day Sightseeing

 

Inle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Shan State. The lake is full of floating gardens and traditional stilt houses. First, we’ll visit the tiny village of Inphawkhone, famouse for its teak stilt houses and weaving workshops. From there we’ll head to Nampan just south of Ywama to see the Alodaw Pauk Pagoda, one of the oldest shrines on the lake. We continue to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and Ywama to the village of Tha Ley and Phaung Daw Oo Paya, the holiest religious site in southern Shan State. In the evening we’ll return to Nga Hpe Ngaung Monastery on the eastern side of the lake. At night you'll return to your hotel on Inle Lake.

Day 5: Inle Lake – Indein

 

After breakfast, we'll take a boat ride to Indein Village, famous for the mysterious, overgrown, 16th century Stupa formations. You’ll see more local crafts in this area too, including a demonstration of how the local boats are made, and a visit a Burmese cigar factory to witness how Buddha images are made from dried flower powder in nearby Leshea Village. In the evening return to the hotel at Inle.

Day 6: Inle Lake (Heho) fly to Mandalay - Mingun

 

After breakfast, you'll take a flight to Mandalay. On arrival, a private car will drive you to the hotel for check-in. In the afternoon we’ll drive to Mingun. Here, a former king started building the greatest Stupa in the world in the 18th century. However, when an astrologer predicted the king would die upon completion, construction was promptly stopped. The gargantuan base and worlds’ largest hanging bell are still on display here. In the evening return to Mandalay for dinner.

Day 7: Mandalay - Amarapura – Inwa - Sagaing

 

Mandalay, Myanmar’s last royal capital, is surrounded by former capital cities.

 

The three we'll visit today are:

  • Amarapura. Here we’ll see Mahagandayon monastery and the U Bein Bridge, the longest teakwood bridge in the world.

  • Sagaing. This former Shan capital features many impressive stupas scattered on its hill.

  • Inwa. The capital for over 400 years has highlights including the Leaning Tower of Ava, the brick and stucco monastery Maha Aungmye Bonzan, and the elegant teakwood monastery Bagaya Kyaung.

Finish the day by visiting a gold leaf hammering workshop and enjoying the sunset from high up on Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 8: Mandalay fly to Bagan

 

Today hop on a flight to Mandalay. Our guide will pick you up at the Nyaung U Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After that, you’ll go on a visit to the historical zone in Bagan, where you can visit the golden stupa of Shwezigon Pagoda for an introduction to Bagan’s rich history. Then, visit nearby Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi; a cave temple with exquisite jataka mural paintings, followed by the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.

 

This afternoon head to Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece which contains two unique Buddha images whose expressions seem to change depending where you stand. Next, visit Ananda Okkyaung – one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the early Bagan period and filled with intricate paintings.

 

As the sun goes down we will be at one of the ideal viewing sites selected by our tour guide for a panoramic sunset view over the temples. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 9: Bagan - Mt. Victoria

 

After breakfast, this morning drive to Mt. Victoria in Chin State. Our first stop is Chauk which is the former hub of the oil exploration and refinery industry.

We cross the Ayeyarwaddy River via Anawyahta Bridge and continue to the western region of the country where you’ll encounter magnificent scenery such as breathtaking rhododendron and pine forests.

On arrival in Kan-pet-let, you’ll check-in at your hotel and then have time to enjoy the serene and mountainous landscape. Stay overnight at Mountain Oasia in Kan-pet-let.

Day 10: Kan Pet Let - Mt. Victoria Hiking

 

After an early morning breakfast, we'll head for base camp by jeep and prepare for the final climb on foot to the summit of Mt. Victoria. You’ll hike 2.5 km from 10 miles station to the peak. At the summit, you'll meet several monks who walked from their monastery. After walking back down you’ll return to the lodge and visit the Chin villages nearby. Stay overnight at Mountain Oasia in Kan-pet-let.

Day 11: Kan Pet Let - Mindut

 

Today we'll depart for Mindut by car, which takes around 6 hours. On the way there is a stop at a Chin tribe village where you can see local life. Stay overnight at Mountain Oasia in Mindut.

Day 12: Mindut Hiking

 

Take breakfast at the resort before trekking around the nearby villages such as Kyar Do village and Loppe village. Here you’ll enjoy enjoy Chin tribal dancing, and some unique ways of life including full face tattoos, nose flute playing, and local artisan crafts like weaving. Stay overnight at Mountain Oasia in Mindut.

Day 13: Mindut - Pauk - Bagan

 

Today well drive to Kanpetlet, and onwards to Pauk. You’ll continue to Pakokku, then drive over the long bridge and proceed to Bagan, staying at the hotel in Bagan.

Day 14: Bagan Fly to Yangon

 

After breakfast, you'll take a flight back to Yangon. Our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay in Yangon.

Day 15: Yangon Departure

 

Today you'll have time for some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Yangon before you catch your flight home.
