Uncover the town of Pyay

Yangon - Shwedaung - Akauktaung – Pyay-Yangon(3D,2N) ( B,L,D)

Day 1: Yangon- Shwedaung –Pyay

 

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Pyay which is a former ancient capital recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. On the way visit Shwetaung which is a well known Temple in Shwedaung. A temple look likes a house for 'a golden Buddha Image with the Golden Spectacles' a large white face sitting Buddha image inside the main shrine. The Buddha image wears golden rimmed spectacles. Proceed to Pyay and transfer to Hotel. In the afternoon, sightseeing around to China town and the market in the region of Pyay. Visit to Shwesandaw Pagoda, where you can get the beautiful view of Ayeyarwaddy river during in sunset time. Stay overnight at Pyay. Lunch and dinner will be served at local restaurants.

 

Day 2: Pyay - Akauktaung - Pyay

 

After breakfast, take a boat to Akauktaung trip along mighty Ayeyarwaddy river. Enjoy scenery taking 2 hours boat trip. Akauktaung is former custom gate for the merchants sailing boats. Akauktaung is noted for its Buddha statues curved out of a rock wall by patiently done since two centuries ago. On the way visit some of the villages on the river side to explore daily activities of the villagers. After that, take a 15 minutess boat ride to Htombo jetty. From Htombo you will be taken back to Pyay by car. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure. Stay overnight at Pyay. Lunch and dinner will be served at local restaurants.

 

Day 3: Pyay - Yangon

 

After breakfast, Visit Srikshetra the old Pyu city that attained its height of prosperity between 500 AD to 900 AD. The old city is 8 km south of Pyay. The archaeological department maintained the valuable antiques in the museum. One may take a bullock cart riding two and half hours to look around old city. The maincentipeters are Phaya Gyi Ceti, Phayama Ceti, Baw Baw Gyi pagoda and Lay Myat Hna temple. After visiting, drive back to Yangon. Lunch and dinner will be served at local restaurants.
