Mon Dynasty Highlights

 

3 Days and 2 nights

 

Day 1 . Yangon Arrival and sightseeing

 

Upon arrival Yangon, the Capital of Myanmar (Golden Land), our guide will accompany you to your hotel. After settling visit the Botahtaung Pagoda located on riverside of the Yangon River and follow on to Chaukhtakyi, here you will witness the truly massive Reclining Buddha. After that, why not do some leisurely shopping at 'Bogyoke Aung San Market' which was built in 1926, where you can find everything that Myanmar has to offer, from common products like clothing and foods to luxurious goods like gems, jewelry and souvenirs. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch continue sightseeing throughout the city .

 

Enjoy the sunset view from the Shwedagon Pagoda 'The Golden Pagoda' which is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy dinner at the famous Karawait Floating Restaurant and be entertained by traditional dances and cultural shows a beautiful finish to the end of a long day. Return back to your hotel to rest well for the next days' activities..

 

 

Day 2. Yangon – Bago Sightseeing

 

After breakfast at the hotel, journey to Bago city which lies north east of Yangonis an ancient capital of Mon Kingdom in 15th century and one of the richest archaeological sites in Myanmar. Sightseeing includes Shwethalyaung Pagoda dating back to 994 and hosts the world’s most Reclining Buddha at 50 metres high and 16 metres wide. Next visit the Shwemawdaw Pagoda and the 28 meter high huge Buddha image of Kyaikpun Pagoda. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. After lunch, visit to Kanbawzathadi Palace which has been recently reonovated, is a memorial for the great king Bayinnaung who founded Second Myanmar Empire during 16th century and whose reign is know as the greatest exposion of human energy in Burmese history. Follow onto Bago Market and shop local antiqueties at your leisure. In the evening return back to Yangon. On the way visit Pottery Making Work Shop and World War II Allied War Grace Cemetery. Overnight in Yangon. Dinner will be served at your hotel.

 

 

Day 3. Yangon Departure

 

Spend the morning at your leisure, shopping at Scott Market for last minute trinkets or admiring the colonial architecture. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
