Kyaing Tong Trek

Adventurous travellers will get the chance to see how the indigenous Akn, Akha and Lahu tribes people live their lives. You'll spend days interacting with the local tribes and getting to know their age-old customs. This guided trekking tour lasts for 4 days and 3 nights, and is ideal for people of average mobility.

Day 1: Yangon – Mandalay – Heho - Kyaingtong (by flight)

Note: Kyaingtong flights depart only MON/TUE/WED/SAT/SUN

You'll be picked up from your hotel and transferred to airport. On arrival at Kyaingtong airport, you will transferred to your hotel and check-in first and settle in. In the evening, you can visit the down town area of Kyaing Tong around the Nong Tong Lake. Stay overnight in your hotel in Kyaingtong.

Day 2: Kyaingtong - Akha village trekking

After an early breakfast, we'll drive to Ho Kyin (appr. 1 ½hr drive). There you'll visit the Hokyin village with Akha tribes, who still wear traditional costumes with silver coils. If an Akhar woman wants to wear her complete costume, it takes about more than one hour to get ready. After this, we'll take a slow and easy walk to three nearby villages of Akha tribes to observe their daily life in these rural areas. In the afternoon, we will journey back to Kyaing Tong and stay overnight in Kyaingtong.

Day 3 : Kyaing Tong - Pin Tauk Village Trekking

After breakfast, your local station guide will meet you at your hotel for a hiking tour into the Pin Tauk area. In this region, you'll see lush mixed monsoon forests with a view to the plain rice fields looking like a huge, green patchwork blanket shimmering in the water of the flooded paddy fields. Here your local guide will introduce you to the villagers of Aka and An tribes. Some are baptized, some tribes still animists. The walk is not difficult and can be done slowly.

Some of the An villages are on hills (approximately a 45 ˚ incline walk for less than half an hour). The “An” people are known to be the kindest tribe, as there has been no case from the past to the present in which an An member has ever been violent. It will take about 6 hours to visit the villages, including visits of the houses. Late in the afternoon we'll come back to Kyaing Tong and stay overnight in Kyaingtong.

Day 4: Kyaingtong - Mandalay/Heho/Yangon (by flight)
